Salary Calculator

Estimate monthly take-home pay after taxes and deductions.

Take-home pay on this page is gross monthly salary minus a flat tax percent of that gross, minus other deductions you type. Tax is gross × tax rate ÷ 100. Net pay is gross − tax − deductions. It does not apply income-tax slabs, cess, provident fund rules, or a standard deduction.

Formula

Take-home = gross salary - tax - deductions

Example

₹50,000 gross with 10% tax and 2% deduction gives take-home around ₹44,000.

Illustration only. Use the formula and the result box for the number.

How is take-home pay estimated here?

Net = gross − (gross × tax rate ÷ 100) − other deductions. A ₹50,000 gross with a 10% tax rate and a ₹1,000 deduction gives tax of ₹5,000 and net pay of ₹44,000.

The older example of “2% deduction” is a different way to state a deduction. This form asks for other deductions in rupees, not as a second percent. Type the rupee amount you want removed.

A real payslip can include PF, professional tax, and a slab-based income tax. Those are not in this formula. Use the result to learn a flat subtraction, then compare it with the payslip.

What will make the real salary different?

Slabs, rebates, employer contributions, variable pay, and unpaid leave are all outside the form. A flat rate on monthly gross is only a sketch.

Do not file a return from this number. It is not advice from a tax authority or an employer.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter gross monthly salary. Use the monthly gross in rupees, before the tax and deductions you are about to type.
  2. Enter a tax rate. This is a single percent you choose. It is not looked up from a tax regime.
  3. Enter other deductions. Type a rupee amount. The page subtracts it once. It does not know what the deduction is for.

Questions about Salary Calculator

Does this use the new or old tax regime?

Neither. You type one percent. The page does not apply slabs or a regime.

Are deductions a percent?

No. The deductions field is a rupee amount subtracted once. The tax field is the only percent.

Can net pay be negative?

Yes, if deductions plus tax are larger than gross. That means the inputs do not describe a real payslip, not that the employer owes a negative salary.

Is gross annual or monthly?

Monthly. The label on the form says gross monthly salary.

Read the guide

The GST page adds tax to a base: tax = base × rate ÷ 100, and total = base + tax. ₹5,000 at 18% is ₹900 of GST and a ₹5,900 total. The salary page estimates net pay as gross − (gross × tax rate ÷ 100) − other deductions in rupees. It does not use income-tax slabs.
