Tax

GST Calculator

Calculate GST amount and total value including tax.

This GST calculator adds tax on top of a base amount. Tax is base × GST rate ÷ 100, and the total is base plus tax. It does not extract GST from a price that already includes tax.

Formula

GST amount = base × GST rate / 100; total = base + GST amount

Example

₹5,000 at 18% GST gives ₹900 tax and total ₹5,900.

Illustration only. Use the formula and the result box for the number.

How do you calculate GST on a base price?

Multiply the base by the rate and divide by 100. On ₹5,000 at 18%, tax is ₹900 and the total is ₹5,900. That is the worked example on this page.

The page treats the amount as exclusive of GST. If your bill already includes GST, this addition will overstate the tax. An inclusive price needs a different split: tax = inclusive price × rate ÷ (100 + rate).

This is arithmetic, not a filing. Place of supply, exemptions, and input credits are outside the form.

Which GST rate should I type?

Type the rate that applies to the goods or service. The calculator does not look up HSN or SAC codes, and it does not split CGST, SGST, and IGST.

If you only need the combined tax and the customer total, one rate is enough for this page. A tax invoice may still need the split between central and state or integrated tax.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the base amount. Use the price before GST, in rupees.
  2. Enter the GST rate. Type the percent, such as 5, 12, 18, or 28. The page does not choose the legal rate for you.
  3. Read tax and total. The result shows GST and the total including that tax.

Questions about GST Calculator

Does this page remove GST from an MRP?

No. It adds GST to a base. For a price that already includes GST, do not use the total from this form as the tax.

Can I enter 18 for 18 percent?

Yes. Enter 18, not 0.18. The page divides by 100.

Does the result split CGST and SGST?

No. It shows one combined GST amount and the total.

Is this a GST return?

No. It does not file, store, or validate an invoice. It only multiplies the two numbers you enter.

Read the guide

The GST page adds tax to a base: tax = base × rate ÷ 100, and total = base + tax. ₹5,000 at 18% is ₹900 of GST and a ₹5,900 total. The salary page estimates net pay as gross − (gross × tax rate ÷ 100) − other deductions in rupees. It does not use income-tax slabs.
