Formula
Use standard conversion factors for the selected unit pair.
Example
1 km = 0.621371 miles
Which unit pairs does this converter calculate?
It converts kilometre and mile, metre and kilometre, kilogram and pound, and Celsius and Fahrenheit. One kilometre is 0.621371 miles. One kilogram is 2.20462 pounds. One kilometre is 1,000 metres.
If you pick two units the page does not know as a pair, such as kilograms to kilometres, it does not invent a factor. The value stays the same.
The factors are rounded teaching values, not a laboratory standard to every digit. For a legal or scientific measurement, use the official factor your setting requires.
How do the temperature formulas work?
Celsius to Fahrenheit adds 32 after scaling by 9/5. Fahrenheit to Celsius subtracts 32 before scaling by 5/9. A temperature of 0 is a real temperature, so do not treat a zero result as an empty form.
The page does not convert Kelvin, and it does not convert cooking cups, square feet, or data sizes.
How to use this calculator
- Enter the value. Type the number you want to convert.
- Choose From and To. Pick a supported pair. The lists are kilometres, metres, miles, kilograms, pounds, Celsius, and Fahrenheit.
- Read the converted value. The result shows four decimal places. An unsupported pair comes back equal to the input.
Questions about Unit Converter
Why did my number stay the same?
The From and To units are not one of the pairs listed above. Choose a pair the page knows, or the value is echoed.
How many decimals are shown?
Four. A clean factor can still display trailing zeros because of that rounding.
Is 0.621371 exact for a kilometre?
It is the factor this page uses. The international mile is slightly more precise. For everyday use the difference is small.
Can I convert height for the BMI page?
You can convert a length pair this page supports. Feet and inches are not in the list, so convert those elsewhere before you use centimetres on the BMI page.
Read the guide
A percentage on CalculatorX is part ÷ whole × 100. A discount is price × rate ÷ 100, subtracted from the price. A unit conversion applies one known factor, and only for kilometre/mile, metre/kilometre, kilogram/pound, and Celsius/Fahrenheit. Using the wrong page produces a confident number for a different question.

- Estimate Unit Converter from the inputs you already have.
- Check the result against the formula and the worked example.
- Change one value at a time and compare the new estimate.
Limits to keep in mind
- The figure is only as complete as the inputs on this form.
- Rounding, fees, and local rules can change the real-world number.
- Use it to learn and compare. Confirm important finance or health decisions with a qualified professional.
